Emily Eva Gillard
19.4.1925-9.12.2008
I would like to dedicate this Blog to my beautiful great Grand mother Emily Gillard,
Although she is gone she is not forgotten, and never will be.
First I would like to share a poem that I wrote and read out at her funeral :
Angel - By Emily Bond
We were all very lucky
To have an angel in our life
In popsocks and slippers
A mother, Grandmother A wife
A person who gave unconditional love
And support through everything
A woman who touched our lives for the better
Has now gained her wings
It seems as though she was only on loan
And sure enough in due time
She was beckoned back to heaven
To watch over us from up high
Talking about you wont be enough
A poor second best
Because when your blessed by an angel
It leaves you speechless
We know your watching over us
And healing us while we cry
But although we are gonna miss you Nan
Angels never die
R.I.P Emily Eva Gillard
Gone But Never Forgotten.
I love you Forever

Lonely in Lincoln
SOOOOOOOOOOOO without going into much detail, I did something really stupid, and embarassing, with no effect AGAIN.
Thing is, I have never been brave and maybe it is because EVERYTIME I do it backfires on me. Seriously its no wonder I have no self esteem?
Anyway I cba to write anymore... Goodnight x

Waiting.....
In New York yesterday a bill for same sex marraige was refused on a 38-to-24 Vote.
One of the reasons for this was a ridiculous excuse, in my opinion. Senators against the proposition justified this by saying that New York was in a state of "economic anxiety and was uneasy at the re-defining of marraige."
Im Sorry What???
Same sex marraige has exactly what to do with the recession? It really bugs me that they use it as an excuse to get away with EVERYTHING.
I did work experience at "The Swindon Advertiser" and they let all wex people go to court with a reporter (tres exciting.... ) Anyway one of the trials was a blok-e who had been speeding. I can't remember exact figures, but it was quite over the speed limit, and the judge let him off because driving was his job, and he might not find another IN THE RECESSION. jokes. What if he had killed someone???
Its not an excuse for anything. You know, recession isnt making me wanna drive faster, and it isn't stopping men falling in love with each other ( or women for that matter!)
And as for re-difining marriage, why would they have to? Apart from to change the words wife to husband or husband to wife, surely being wed is about being and love and wishing to spend eternity together.
PLUS: I have never heard of Same sex marriages of convenience, or Green Card Same Sex Weddings!!
there maybe some, but i have never heard of them!!!!
So there will be no same-sex marriages in NY, at least until 2011 when the issue will be re-opened as they introduce a new Legislation.
So My life: the part you lot dont really care about :P
Well last night I went to the shed with my lovely girls who im going to be living with next year, Jenny, Emma and Hannah :D ooh and Ella came too <3.
Got a little...A lot Drunk.... :P
In fact I am still drunk now.... OOPS

Inspiration Procastination
mum text me today telling me that my blog looked abit empty, and to stop the social life and get on it LOL. thing is, without a social life, what would i write about? news is good, but the reason I never wanted to be a newspaper journalist, is because on a slow news day, you still have to fill pages, and i wanted everything i write to mean something to someone.
When I worked at the swindon advertiser there was a 3-day event at the local museum, and instead of one article, they ran one every day.. no one really cares that much lol.
I dont wish for death and destruction every day, far from it but, maybe if there was something that caught my eye...
But anyway, since my last post, I have had the best day ever (saturday) in the form of being a Complete tourist at the cathedral. I enlisted the help of my Lincoln resident :D and made him take me there.
We got to the cathedral just in time, as 2 people had cancelled there place on the roof tour, so we got to go, for free, as well as entry being free. It was amazing, if a little terrifying, being up there with the whole of Lincoln before us, ad i got some good photo's :D which can be viewed on My facebook.
Today I went window shopping, and thats about it xx

Laziness? Me? Im just a student.....
I have been very lazy and not blogged for two days. :( Bad Bad me. Not a lot has happened really, not much of interest anyway.
But one thing in the news has caught my eye this week. A man who strangled his wife to death whilst sleepwalking, has walked free. Even if this crazy defence were true, surely its still manslaughter or accidental murder or something? He told juries that he thought she was an intruder in his sleepy state.
But just a couple of years ago, it was decided that if you shot a burgular in your house and he died from the injuries, you would be prosecuted.
So seriously why is this man not being prosecuted??
Also, he has told the court his wife forgave him in a dream...Is this man ever awake???
I also noticed that once again princess Diana was front page news. I honestly wish the poor woman would be left in peace. She died 12 years ago!!!! When I am a proper journalist, I will refuse to cover any story with even the mere mention of princess di in it. Its just awful.
SOOO....My Life:
Well.... I failed my marketing essay,LOL so will have to add bits to it now to pass. this may make u wonder why I am blogging whilst I should be concentrating on the other half of my marketing grade, but I couldnt come up with a sensible answer for that.
I went on a kinda sorta maybe double date last night. Which was mantal and funny, in playzone and also pretty amazing at the cinema to. I went to see New Moon, which is kinda good, although kirsten stewart... too skinny in this film and also, CRAP at acting... R-Patz, squinty puffy ball of gay sparkling vampire sex.
But Taylor Lautner :) YUMM-E almost as much of an adonis as the god i was sat next to... Jo of course Not Craig :D
Yeh so after the cinema we went to playzone where i think luke was the only person who didnt sustain injuries, although the geting injured part was so much fun, especially mine, luke sat on my face :)
Ooh and I had a slush puppie which i havent had for like years!!! :D
Anyway me and craig are going to NEW YORK on holiday this year and i cant wait.
Also I have started a new project which I love, for someone extremely special, but it is a suprise... SSH :)

I Got New York City Heart
Yes, the title of my blog IS from : Oliver and Company, as in the animal take on oliver Twist set in New York.
I think the reason I enjoy Blogging is because I can talk about facts figures BLAH BLAH BLAH but as anyone can get on here, its like an excuse to NOT write all my feelings down.
Ok Bloggy Blog Blog Blog, We have a slight problem. I have to find a job. I have to! It is imperative!
I have been accepted onto an internship program, and i need to find something like £5,000 but £590 of it in the next 10 days EEK.
The thing is, I feel I have to go. I want to and I need to and I would love to, and surely thats adds up to neccessity.
I need a job :( Or to win the lottery, but i dont even play... Maybe I could sue someone?? But for what...
hmm
I had an amazing Job, not long ago, but I had to leave it to come to university, and, I have found it almost impossible to find a job in Lincoln :( also I still dont have my freaking Loan, thanks Government, cheers a bunch, and im generally skint
BUT IM POSITIVE.
This is my dream, so part of me knows I will be there this summer.

I turned my face away, and dreamed about you
I have to confess to being EXTREMELY lazy today, and I am not going to wrie about news as I have only just finished packing, although by the time I finish writing you this, it will be tomorrow, which is rather disheartening.
I am off back to lincoln tomorrow, and I am rather excited. I even get to see Craig before he goes to London for the weekend =P
Dont get me wrong, I have had a very entertaining and busy time down in chippenham, but its kinda weird being here. I sort of feel a bit in the way, in what was my own home....
I went to Bath today, with my little sister and her best mate Dannielle.
I went into college, and even saw Patrick without wanting to hit him, for being a general let down! I got all my old work back which will be fun for a laugh when I get home :)
That is about it for now, as I am tired and have to finish packing!
Till tomorrow, when I will bring my views on Ny News to my adoring (5) fans
x

The City That Never Sleeps
Col. el-Qaddafi asked for 200 "babes" to attend his appearance in Rome this week. The girls, some of whom were turned away for wearing "provocative" clothing were then preached at to convert to Islam, before being handed copies of Qaddafi's green book, and the Koran.
What a ploy to get attractive women into your religion!
The women were even paid for their attendance, and assured re-imbursement if they converted and visited Mecca, a rite of passage for all Muslims.
I found this, actually very entertaining, although, you would have to pay me a lot more than $75 to listen to someone preach islam at me for 45 minutes!
My Day:
Went to Cardiff today, to see Aimee and Anni, although Anni didn't actually turn up...
So me and Aimee went window shopping, and I bought some £2 shoes, and a postcard :P We had a McDonalds (yum) then went back to Aimee's.
I had to go at 3:55 though, although i actually got a 4 o clock train and got home earlier than I was supposed to LOL.
Had mash potato for tea :) My Favourite
OOH and I think I may have got a place on an extremely expensive internship program, along with Craig ($7,999!!!) :D So hopefully this summer we will be in NY together, working our bums off!!
Quote of the day: "Beth: Have you farted, it stinks?" Me: "No, that was you" Beth:"oh"

Start Spreading the news, I'm Leaving Today
More and More NY Landlords are banning smoking in apartments. Apparently this leaves, not many places for smokers to spark up. To me, this news couldn't be better. I hate smoking, and second-hand smoke with a passion, so to live in a building where people are not allowed to smoke, will not only lower the fire risk, it means I won't have to put up with the smells and nicotine stains all over a place, where I will hopefully one day live.
Is a short entry today as I am rather busy.
My Day:
OMG Mr Reynolds called me at 3am and we were on the phone till half four lol. miss me much?? So when I got up at 9:30 I was tired, to say the least. But I was excited because I came to see my Dad and Lil bro today.
Meet the Family
Dad:
Funniest man Ever!
Julie:
Dads Partner, she waxed my eyebrows (Y)
Rhiannon:
Eldest sister, bit of a legend to be honest
Nathaniel:
Lil Bro from hell, but for some reason, I can't stay mad at him.
OK so me and Craig paid our internship application fees for the UofDreams which is exciting :D :D "We can do it over the phone" Lol ;)
We also decided we are going to "DISNEYWORLD!" this summer is gonna be 100% amazing!!!
Anyway must go for a roast :D yum, and then am going to play skittles atr SJA.
Till tomorrow x

Since I made it Here, I can Make It anywhere
In the headlines Today:
Obama is planning to send 40,000 new troops to afghanistan. This will take the money being spent on the war, as I understand it, from $40 billion to $54 billion a year. This is being opposed as the governments budget is soaring, due to weak economy (although the scotsman told us that U.S.A has officially come out of the recession) and Obama's plan for a costly health plan, not unlike our NHS. Whilst all the budget stuff is interesting, very interesting, what really interested me was that I am at least 98% sure Obama promised to get the troops out of there, not send more out. I mean, if i was American, that would be one of the reasons I voted for him. In my opinion, and I am not a war reporter or anything, this war has gone on way too long, and it doesn't seem like we are even fighting for a reason anymore, just people dying for no explainable reason.
Technically, not "news" but as someone with an opinion on everything, this stood out, because I have very strong opinions on this. So the NY times had an article on their website about People listening to mp3s in public, Talking on Phones etc.
So the talking on phones I agree with, I mean really, no-one cares what your wife is cooking you for dinner, or which stripper your friends ended up going home with last night.
And those are the more milder conversations!
But here is my view on MP3 players. If it's me, I listen to my music Full Blast, on the bus, train, in the street. I like to listen to loud music. This may make me insensitive, but it is just who I am. However, if I was on a full bus, I would turn down my music for the comfort of the person sat next to me. But if they decide on an empty bus, to sit next to, behind, or in front of me, well that is up to them. I wouldn't tell them not to sit there if they had a personal hygiene problem or a particularly annoying fidgeting habit. I would just move. Makes sense right?
The music for me makes my journey easier, it makes it seem shorter, and as a sufferer of travel sickness, this is V important to me, and it is just entertainment. But when you are sat in front of a whingy person on an empty bus, you are anti-social and rude.
MY DAY:
First full day back in Chippenham. By the way, town last night was a bust. I hated Chippenham town night life when I lived here but now I live in a city where something is always on, it seems worse, but anyway, they wouldnt let me in anywhere, because my passport is not valid :( so we went back to Rhi's and watched Spirited Away lol. So this morning I got up and had to get a taxi home in my clothes from last night. With no shoes on as I only had 5 inch stilettos with me :). Then went to Hungry Horse with Rhiannon and Andrea, and Gerry met us at one.
Then Me, Gerry, and Bethan went into town and I saw everyone from Boots =D Yay.
My friend Emma met us a three thirty and we all came back to mine. We were all sat around talking and then Emma had to go, which is sad, but not to sad as I hope she will come to Lincoln soon!
OMG Me, Bethan and Gerry had the biggest play-fight ever. Must have gone on for about 2 hours! soooooo much fun!!!
Then I had a yummy roast, watched X factor and went to bed!
Pretty fun day lol but not that exciting!
Till tomorrow...

They've got rivers of gold
Almost in answer to yesterdays blog, The New York Times today ran an article on how security around the city will be stepped up in anticipation of the 9/11 trials.
They're will be "convoys of heavily armed oficers, fields of barricades, and additional checkpoints." Also plain Clothes officers, scanning the crowd for people with "ill intent."
Some people think that trialling the criminals in New York will make it more of a target for terrorism, however, Peter. T. King Republican, said "We are number 1 terroist target in the world," you can't really be higher than number one.
I do not think there is a country where these people will get a fair trial.
I also cried about this poor dog called Oreo. Its horrible horrible owner threw the poor thing off of a roof of a six storey building. It survived, and was being nursed back to health at a vet clinic. However it was euthanised for being agressive. R.I.P Oreo. Of course thie thing is gonna be aggressive!!! It got thrown off of a roof. The dog needed loving back to trusting humans not killing!
Couldnt really find a lot to write about today, but Oreo's story made me rather sad :-(
MY DAY
Got up at Seven this ridiculous morning. I had to get dressed and ready to leave by eight :-( Luckily I had time to get a double sausage Mcmuffin :D w/o egg because egg is for GAYS! :P Caught the coach on time :) pretty uneventful till Leicester when we had a break.
I should tell you now that I HATE BUS STATIONS.
Bus stations are the coldest horriblest and windiest places on earth. It could be 50 degrees outside, and it would be -12 in the bloody bus station! Same thing applies to Train stations.
And the people in bus stations. Old people who think it is your duty to move out of their way, well actually I am trying to walk here!!!
When we got back on the bus, it was full. Totally full, which of course means that I had to sit by someone. No offence to the lady who I had to sit by, but I hate sittng next to people I don't know on buses. It is a complete invasion of personal space.
Oh and people that sit right in front of me on public buses. GRRR.
Then I got to Birmingham and almost missed my connection. But I got on it :D and DIDN'T HAVE TO SIT NEXT TO ANYONE!! woop woop, I got to listen to loud music, Read my book without fear of elbowing people every time I turn the page, and put my legs up!
Finally got home about 5, after i got to Brizzle, and went to tesco's.

They've Got Cars Big As Bars
The only thing I could find today to write about was the extremely interesting story that the 9/11 self described "Mastermind." He is gonna be trialed in New York. A court announced on friday that Khalid Shaik Mohamed was going to be put on trial in the city.
I know this is a serious serious subject, and I do not wish to make light of it, but the only thing I could think of when I heard of this was Batman: The Dark Knight.
You know the part where, they have to clear all the roads to get Harvey Dent to the prison, and have to clear all the roads, etc.
Well Harvey Dent was only a fake Vigilante, This guy has said he masterminded the unnecessary slaughter of thousands of people. Imagine the Police Escort they would need to get him to the court room?
I wonder if this man is even worth it, however The European Convention on Human Rights tells us: "Innocent until Proven Guilty"
So then I think If this man is Guilty, The road blocks will be worse on the way out. If what this man has admitted is true, this means that for the second time, this man will have brought New York City to a standstill.
Although I think an american prison will be a much better place for him than anywhere else, even if i doubt he will spend all that much time there, as Eric Holder, The US attorney General, is said to be pushing for the death penalty.
Him and four other people accused of being co-conspirators are to be tried just a few blocks from the felled world trade centre. I wonder if they'll pass it.
If they will hang their head, or pause for a minute. Or maybe they'll smirk, look what we did guys??
I remember the day I heard about the 9/11 attack. I hadnt heard anything during the day when my stepdad came home and put the news on. After watching long enough to determine what had happened, I couldn't watch any longer. I went out to my Back Garden and cried for people I didnt know.
So thats my news report today,
MY DAY:
Woke up at 10:45 and got clothes out of washing machine, (am going home tomorrow).
Went to Library, to help Craig start a Blog.
Found awesome website, which I have nearly finished applying for! It is called the university of dreams, and it offers work placements in the city you want it to be in, in the industry which you wish for it to be.
1st Choice: Journalism in Manhattan
2nd Choice: Publishing in Manhattan
Then me and Rhian, attempted to do the prep work for the seminar, which we gave up on, and then made Craig paranoid by having "secret" conversation over facebook!
Then we had seminar, which was boring except for v. funny seminar teacher.
Ooh!
nearly forgot, went out last night with Craig, Ella, Hannah and Jenny. Was good, got a bit drunk hahaha. Dropped my phone on Hannahs foot! SORRY!
Haha watching Matt and his "cool"friends with the beer bong.
Craig wussing out at half 9 - not really he had to go do something, although he was drinking booze when he shouldn't!! TUT TUT TUT!
And Jenny tipped Vimto all over my Skirt!!!! :P was good celebration
Am going home early tomorrow!!! gotta get up v. early, probably earliest I have ventured from bed since my arrival in this beautiful city :D
Tomorrow!

In The headlines today
I'm not a politician or a political journalist. I know enough about NY to "heart" it (as the t-shirt says) but not that much to talk about the articles on the hard hitting stuff yet.
However, I have found some headlines that i feel comfortable enough to express my opinions on.
The first, Dated yesterday, was about a private school, Dalton, In Manhattan. The first thing to catch my eye was that it said something about "A lesson in Journalism."
The story was about A talk a visting Justice gave the students.Justice Anthony M Kennedy, put a publishing restriction on the journalists of the schools paper, The Daltonian saying that no article could be published without his approval.
The reason this interested me was because, as my fellow, journalistic lincolnians know, a couple of weeks ago we had a Talk with a Journalist named Tom Bower. As I am bound by Chatham House rule I cannot publish anything about the talk, or I would be breaking, well the law.
However, after being told in a media law lecture Americans were legally guaranteed a free press by the first amendment, this suprised me a lot. Well apparently, In America at least, Judges can place restrictions on reporting, outside of the courtroom!
The Second Story was about the gravestone of an Irish man found under Washington square park. At first I thought this was a rather depressing story, as no one knew who he was or what he did. Then I thought again and realised I would Love to make the news 210 years after my death! I mean think of the people who do that, people like Shakespeare etc. Most of them are royals, or famous, but this guy was a no-one. A no-one from Ireland who came to New York to live a new life, far from Ireland. And maybe he had a dream, that didnt work out, Scientists think he was a Grocer or a Watchman. But now he is in The NY Times and people are trying to solve this mystery of him! Wow.
NOW.... onto my Day
Well, today was the deadline for my Journalism Skills Assignment. And I had it all figured out. After my mini disaster with my computer shutting down as I was ten words away from finishing typing everything out, I tought I would type it up at home and bring it to Uni today on a memory stick. Which I did. No problem. Or so I thought.
Got up at quarter to ten this morning, enough time for a shower and to be at library to print out my stories for 11:30, so I would be on time for my Lecture at 12 etc.
Half way through washing my hair, the shower went cold. Freezing cold. BRR.
So I got to the library, printed out my stories, and tried to print my news feature. But Ihadnt saved it in the right format, and the bloody thing wouldn't open!!!
Had to type out the whole 400 word thing from memory, because I'm an idiot that threw her notes away
TIP: DON'T.EVER.THROW.YOUR.NOTES.AWAY. EVER!
So, by the time I had done that, I was too late for my Lecture. :-(.
So then I went to get some lush lunch!! I had sweet potato salad with Chilli and Lime dressing :D Lettuce and Sweetcorn.
I met Craig at One, even though he couldn't see me! (quite difficult to miss ha ha)Went to Library as he had spotted some Typo's in my work, and he needed to print his off, (more disorganised than me!!)THEN he decided to buy a folder for his assignment so we decided to go to Smiths, where Craig proceeded to buy GQ, and £4 worth of chocolate LOL, but no folder. So then we went to Wilkinsons to buy a folder, which we did.
Craig decided he wanted Chips, so he got Curry Sauce, Chips and A sausage (yum), And he gave me his last chip (AWW):-) and we had a bit of a heart-to-heart LOL
So then we finally handed our assignments in like 2:40, and then he walked me to my seminar (who said chivalry was dead?)Although I did have to violently tickle him in order to get him not to panic in the lift. :D
Tonight I am off out with the girls and Craig and Jacques :P to celebrate the end of our assignment :D

The Start of Something New
Ok, I was never any good at writing diaries, but i kinda have to do this at some point for an assignment, so I thought I would start.
I actually just have notebooks cluttering my room full of little bits of poems, feelings etc. you know the stuff you would be mortified if anyone read, but keep carelessly around anyway. I am however a hoarder. No not a whore. Someone who keeps everything. Cinema tickets, Bus tickets, Train tickets Bands from SJA camp.
So "the start of something new."
I'm officially a sponging, drinking, partying, moaning university student. I dont think I have ever been as happy.
I'm homesick all the time, but I get to do something I love 24/7. University, whilst being in my life plan since i realised I had brains enough to go, was a rash decision for me.
See I was supposed to go next year, but "with the recession how it is," I couldnt get a job so in my lovely mothers own words, "I'd rather support you to go to uni, Than support you to sit around on your ass here."
So, I applied for a clearance place, at Lincoln Uni, a place I had never even heard of. However I am so glad I decided to come here.
I'll start at the beginning, (A very good placeto start)
To begin with, There was my mother and me upheaving my whole room, into the back of what was to become a very very packed SAAB. I didnt see my little sister or my best friend or my big sister or anyone the day i went. I did see my step dad (Nick) though and also Gerry (my not really little brother) Gerry came to see me and was the last person I saw before I went away. We took Mai for a walk.
Then me and mum scooted our bums into gear, whilst I told her she simply HAD to play the CD I had made specially because I had made it for the trip. We got here to Lincoln, and started to unpack.
When everything was sorted, and I delayed my mothers leaving as long as possible, she actually had to leave, Long drive back or some such excuse. It was awkward, because she didnt want to leave as much as I wanted her to stay. So we wandered to the car, and sat there not really knowing what to say. She patted my head??
Then she cried! Then I did for hours :(
BUUUT enough of that depressing nonsense!
SO new friends!!!
Ella
Met her in my welcome talk, knew we would be friends as soon as she said "Er, I think I am in the wrong talk!" and oh how we laughed at the Lame people talking.
I met her properly at the Awesome Headphone Disco, where we kept switching stations, and then HER NIPPLE FELL OUR OF HER DRESS hahahahahhahahahahhaahahah!
OH and she is supposed to be a goth but she is pretty shit at it :D she had never seen "The Nightmare Before Christmas," before she met me. WTF ROFLMAO. haha at "geek speak"
Anyway we do things like all nighters, Eat lots of Cherry Stuff, Get drunk, watch films, lots of them, Go clubbing, and shopping and generally everything best friends are supposed to.
I dread to think what my life would be like if she went to the right talk!!!!
Oh and she shoots up in restaurants, and clubs, and shops.
Joanna Graham
WOW. First person I met in Lincoln. Then Dan...But Jo anywho, wonderful :D. We share a Love for Michael Jackson and Twilight even if she is team edward and i'm team jacob. We are widly inapproriate and tell her boyf about out "Lesbian Romps." It's quite fun as he is incredibly possessive. Jo has green hair, and wears grandad jumpers <3>Dan
Jo's Boyfriend, Mega sarcastic. thinks he is funny :P we like to wind each other up.
Matthew Burton
My housemate. The only Male in a house of women. We like to hit each other :P :)
Jack
This Kid = Legend. We argue. We have a love hate relationship. We love to argue, but we hate each other! (I jest, as Richard Keeble would say) we dont hate each other.... at least i dont hate him LOL...Anyway, although he probably wouldnt admit it at knife point, He is one of the good guys :D.
AND THEN
THE WEIRDEST THING HAPPENED
Craig Finch
A person so like me it is unreal. The other half of my rap duo, the one the only Mr Finchy Alan. This ones always impeccably turned out :D so not that much like me ;) He makes me laugh so hard my sides hurt, although sometimes it is at him. we get on superbly, which is good because, we are stuck together for a while. New York Finchy, its written in the stars! :)
Which leads me onto my blog,
as well as being my diary I am going to start reading the NY Times (online) every day, and write my views on the New York news. I really want to be a New York Journalist. Reason? I went into Journalism because it is the most faced-past exciting career, and I am hooked. And where better to find stories than the Big Apple itself?
So starting tomorrow (hopefully) we will have a rundown of NY news with my opinions attached.
